DWCM is a total overhaul to the game so this means very little to us once we are able to update to API Version X.X, after that it will be somewhat easier to develope on the minecraft platform.īut at the current rate mojang is developing the API it will be forever. This is just basically a name change and another way to install a modification however it doesnt effect the DWCM considering the custom client, installer, patcher and file system. It is more or less because they want the new Mojang API to seem like bukkit, meaning plugins. Any mod that changes the base class files wouldnt be able to do the "plugin" thing. Just this week i finished 3 total planet/time era textures and smart entity concepts and Im beginning to work on their in-depth storys and missions.īasically what mojang is doing is calling modifcations plugins however thats not really what they are. I spend major parts of my days concepting new ideas, concept art and then after the concepting is done I start the final art and textures and features stuff until its ready to be added to the "Things awaiting coding" pile.and believe me it is a giant pile right now lol. Rest assured, work is still going on however. We want to get this game out to everyone, however developing on minecraft while its under constant change right now is a great risk that yofreke doesnt want to take, so per his decision major code development is suspended until the API is released and minecrafts platform stops changing every single update. So to avoid getting anyones hopes up we are avoiding announcing any time periods or hopeful release dates of any kind until our pre-alpha development phase has been completed. We are hoping to resume active code development once the API is released and we break off of mojangs version system, however we do not know when mojang will finally deliver on it's long overdue promise.
We were hoping to begin our first phase of Alpha test groups near the end of 2012, however due to mojangs constant delaying of the Modding API and the multiple platform destableizing updates minecraft has recieved in the last couple of updates it looks as if that is not going to happen. Do we know when to expect a release date?
